Boronia Vet Clinic
Stage Completed
Project Description
This project consists of alterations and additions to a 1960s veterinary clinic. The new building was designed to meet the needs of a significantly expanded practice with the addition of 4 consulting rooms, an extra theatre, dispensary, larger waiting area, staff ‘retreat’ (including facilities for overnight staff) and onsite parking.
The clients were keen to dispense with the clinical expectations of medical practices by using vibrant colours and tactile materials throughout while maintaining the capacity for easy sanitation.
The staff retreat was designed as a separate entity, with the use of timber throughout and with a screened courtyard to provide a private external space for staff to gather.
Environmental Initiatives
- passive solar design orienting windows for solar heat gain at different times of day
- double-glazed windows
- high level of wall and roof insulation
